If the feeling I have at the end of class could be bottled, Shekira Johnson would be a billionaire! Turn’d Up should be available on the NHS; it’s the ultimate feel good therapy.

I used to sit outside a dance studio where Turn’d Up was taking place waiting for my daughter to finish her dance class. I was intrigued by the darkness, music and disco lights and curious about the participants who left sweaty but happy, having enjoyed a good workout! It took me about a year to pluck up the courage to give it a go though. I made my sister come along with me as I didn’t feel confident enough to go on my own. I left the first class thinking, ‘It’s not for me, I have two left feet, I can’t tell my left from my right and I can’t keep up!’ Everyone else seemed to know what they were doing and were doing it well. My sister surprised me by saying ‘I loved that, are we going again?’. That was over three months ago and I now attend at least three times a week.

I don’t own a weighing scales but I know my body shape is changing. I feel fitter mentally and physically than I ever have before. I’ve always battled with body image and self esteem, but week by week I am growing in confidence and it makes me feel so good. Its hard to put into words but Turn’d Up makes me feel liberated. If the feeling I have at the end of class could be bottled, Shekira Johnson would be a billionaire! Turn’d Up should be available on the NHS; it’s the ultimate feel good therapy.

To anyone thinking of going, I’d say, it’s challenging but so, so worth it. Nobody is trying to compete with anyone else and everyone there is welcoming. I’ve tried many different types of classes but this one is special, it’s set my soul on fire. Mondays will never be the same again! Give it a go, you’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain. It might just change your life, it’s changed mine.

The love and support you receive from Shekira and the other instructors is amazing, such a lush group! It really has made me have a more positive outlook.

I trained and competed in gymnastics from age 5-13. My love of dance started with street dancing at the age of 12 and I decided after my A levels that I wanted to take dance further. I trained at Liberatus School of Performing Arts in Swindon for 2 years. After I graduated I auditioned for dance jobs and did a few bits and pieces before working at Disneyland Paris as a character and parades performer for two months. Unfortunately life happened, I got a full time job and dance kind of dwindled out. I’ve always been into leading a healthy lifestyle and keeping fit and active by going to the gym.

I went to my first Turn’d Up class in January 2018. I fell in love with it as soon as the music came on. It was exactly what I needed in my life. I just had to be a part of it, I knew it was me!! Instructor training gave me all the information and confidence I needed to go out and start my own class. Day one was intense and lots of information to take in, but Shekira made it a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Her passion for Turn’d Up made me realise even more how much I wanted to be a part of this amazing programme. I left feeling like I was about to become part of something incredible.

My first class was just two weeks after I completed the instructor training and it was AMAZING. I had 23 beautiful ladies turn up. Everyone was so supportive and there was an amazing vibe and energy in the room. I received some great feedback and everyone wanted to come back for more.

I feel happier and healthier (physically and mentally) since I became a trainer and my fitness is improving. I feel like I have something to work on that I love and feel passionate about. Something for me. I want to spread the word and have ladies come to my class and feel the same love of Turn’d Up as I do. It’s weird but I feel like I’m glowing. The love and support you receive from Shekira and the other instructors is also amazing, such a lush group! Being surrounded by such positive people really has made me have a more positive outlook.

The Turn’d Up girls are all lush and really welcoming! If anyone is looking for a fitness class that’s fun and builds confidence, and is for any ability, this class is definitely the one to try!

My new fave thing is Turn’d Up Fitness! It is something I never thought I’d have the confidence to take part in, as I haven’t danced since school!  When Nadine Romanick told me about her classes I really wanted to give it a go but was super scared! I called my friend and told her she had no choice, she had to come with me!

I remember walking in thinking ‘What am I doing?!’ and looking at the other women there and thinking ‘Wow some of these are really good, I’m never gonna get this!’ In my next class I was still super nervous, especially as my friend couldn’t make this one with me. I nearly talked myself out of going, but knew if I didn’t try it again I wouldn’t go back, and I wanted to be part of this because it made me feel good! Nadine made it easy to pick up the routines and is so professional that you immediately feel at ease in her classes. It’s given me a place to put all of my energy rather spend it worrying about nothing all of the time!

Since going to Nad’s classes I’ve danced with Queen Sheeks (Shekira Johnson) and the rest of the girl gang and have met loads of new friends! If, like me, you’re worried about being judged about whether or not you can do this, believe me if I can, you can!  The Turn’d Up girls are all lush and really welcoming.

If anyone is looking for a fitness class that’s fun and builds confidence, and is for any ability, Nadine’s class is definitely the one to try! Thank you Turn’d Up Fitness.
