Instructor Training

Level 1

THE TURN’D UP FITNESS MOVEMENT IS GROWING AND WE WANT YOU TO BECOME A PART OF IT.

Turn’d Up is a unique dance fitness programme, that’s way more than just a fitness class: It’s good energy, amazing tunes, great vibes and teaching women to feel empowered and confident about their bodies. We learn high energy routines to current R&B, Dancehall, Popand Hip Hop tunes.

The routines are broken down so that everyone, no matter what their ability, can learn and feel like they’re in their own music video! The lights are off and the disco lights are on! It’s alsoa fantastic full body cardio workout, burning 700-900 calories in an hour’s class. The Turn’d Up experience takes you somewhere that no other class can.

Testimonials

Brilliant! You’ve decided to go for it! The real bonus of joining Turn’d Up Fitness (that we forget when we get to have this much fun) is that you get to do something you love and get paid for it!

Our instructors are all self employed and are responsible for running their own small fitness businesses. It’s down toyou to chose your venue, attract members, manage your social media and ensure you have the correct insurance andlicenses in place.
You have the flexibility to decide how many classes, location/times and to pick your own playlists from the hundreds of routines we have. So it really does become YOUR class.

Some of our experienced instructors get 40+ women per class and teach three classes a week. So the earning potential is great!

I’m the queen of the side-hustle. I work part-time inan Italian restaurant, I sell my art in an art shop in Cardiff and I run 2 Turn’d Up classes a week at JDgym.

The thing I love most about being an instructor is showing so many girls how amazing Turn’d UpFitness is. I really like helping them to feel more confident and happy. My class is a break from everyday life, for the girls, and also for me.

The most rewarding thing is when one of the class tells me I’ve inspired them and had a positive impact on their life.

There are so many benefits to being part of TUF. It has made me happier, fitter, in better shape and increased my confidence so much.

Wendy, Cardiff

I am currently working in administration and I run one class a week, every Wednesday 7-8pm. It’s a convenient time: everyone has finished work, the kids are usually settled by that time, its mid-week and gives everyone that boost when we all get together and go for it. It fits conveniently into my life and for others too! I enjoy it andlook forward to it every week.

Instructor technique training is once every month, which is more than achievable. We learn new routines to bring to our classes to keep them fresh, and also get loads of support and advice on how to be organised and connect with our girl gangs.
It doesn’t always go to plan, but it’s always fun along the way!

I love being a TUF instructor because not only does it feed mypassion for dancing, it helps to keep me healthy and active. AND I get to share that with others too. I’ve made some lovely friends running my classes, and their feedback is mind-blowing sometimes. You don’t realise who’s watching you and who you maybe inspiring and helping, that alone is so rewarding and fulfilling.

The biggest benefit is the massive boost in self-confidence you get,it’s incredible! Everybody glows at Turn’d Up and it spills out into all aspects of your life.

Laura, Coventry

There are so many ways of running classes, the opportunities are endless. When you add the masterclasses, hen parties and team building events into the mix too, there’s no excuse to stop growing your amazing mini business.

Case Studies

Case Study 1 – Kat

Kat, 19, is a student. She’s studying full-time for an undergraduate degree. She found a Turn’d Up class at her local gym. She was working in a local coffee shop at the weekends, but the long hours made it hard for her to study, so she had to quit and rely solely on her student loan.

She now runs two Turn’d Up classes a week, and uses the dance studio at her student union (where she’s gets a discounted hire rate).

Kat has an Instagram and Facebook accountand also flyers regularly at student events/fairs at the Union to grow her members.

She has been an instructor for a year and has worked really hard to consistently promote her classes and build up her following. As a student, Kat is super grateful for the income and having ajob that she loves and allows her to meet new people.

Kat pays out:
£50 a month for her instructor subscription
£7 a month for her insurance
£6 a month for her music licence
£10 per class venue hire = £100 a month (2 classes per week x 4 weeks)

Kat charges £5 per class (sometimes she offers a monthly bundle during the quieter months)
On average 20 girls attend per class = £100 per class.
8 classes a month = Kat earns £800 permonth.

£800 – £157 (expenses/outgoings) = Take home of £643

Case Study 2 – Jane

Jane, 39, is a mother of two, who also works full-time in a doctors surgery as a receptionist. Jane started as a Turn’d Up On Demand member, because her busy life meant she couldn’t find a class in her area at a suitable time/day.

Jane took our on-line instructor course and then used some of our prepared email templates to contact local gyms. She now teaches two classes aweek at one of the gyms in her area. The gym members all get access to the class as part of their monthly subscription and Jane gets paid an hourly rate by the gym to teach.

The gym promote her class on their social media and through their member newsletters. Jane gets paid a fixed hourly rate, regardless of how many people attend the class on the day. Sometimes there will be 6 girls, sometimes there will be 18.

She has an Instagram page that she uses, but doesn’t need to promote her classes, or grow members (as the gym does that for her). She uses it more for herself, but has had a lot of women enquire and start On Demand themselves, just like Jane did.

She doesn’t do this for the money, more because she loves that time to herself, keeping fit and seeing other women doing the same.

Jane pays out:
£50 a month for her instructor subscription
£7 a month for her insurance
(she doesn’t needa music licence as her gym already has one)

Jane gets paid a fixed rate of £30 an hour perclass = Jane earns £240 a month

£240 (per month) – £57 (expenses) = Jane takes home £183 per month
